Breathtaking beauty!　Kyoto Yuzen Sarees have arrived!

Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, Kyoto Yuzen Saree Show will be held in Bangalore.
After receiving the sarees last night, I put them on mannequins and hung them on poles ……. It was a very exciting and enjoyable process.

There is still work to be done, but the venue is almost complete. Anyway, these sarees are fabulous!!

I have been familiar with Indian handicrafts for nearly 20 years now, but in fact I am still unfamiliar with Japanese handicrafts. When I was young and working in Japan, I did not have the opportunity to appriciate with Japanese craftsmanship and traditional crafts.

So this is the first time that I have looked at the Kyoto Yuzen with such a deep appreciation.

I have seen countless examples of craftsmanship in various countries and places around the world. On that basis, I feel Kyoto Yuzen is one of the most wonderful art forms.

It is a great feeling to be surrounded by such opulent and rich works of art. I long for this traditional art to be passed on to the future.

🇯🇵すばらしき、京友禅サリーが届きました！

明日と明後日、バンガロールで開催される京友禅サリーショー。昨夜、サリーを受け取ったあと、マネキンに着せたり、ポールに吊るしたり……。楽しみながら、ディスプレイの方法を模索した。

まだ、アイロンを軽く当てるなどの作業が残っているが、会場は概ね完成。とにもかくにも、すばらしい！

インドの手工芸品とは、かれこれ20年近く親しんできたが、実は日本の手工芸品は、まだよく知らない。日本で働いていた若いころは、日本の職人技や伝統工芸に親しむ精神的な余裕がなかった。

だから、京友禅も、こんなにしみじみと眺めるのは、初めてのことなのだ。これまで、世界各国の、さまざまな土地で、無数の職人技を目にしてきた。その上で思う。

すばらしい。

こんなにも豪奢で豊かな作品に触れ合うことができて、感無量。この伝統的な芸術を、未来に繋いで欲しいと切望する。

「サリー」という括りを超えて、まずは多くの人に見てほしい。
